Angry Bird Quadratics
This hands on activity involves the students exploring parabolas by constructing their own level of Angry Birds and the parabolic path the bird has to travel to complete the level. The students are to create a level with the blocks, plot the three points the bird must travel, then find the parabola that passes through the three points. They are to construct two different parabolas and use two different birds to be launched. This is a good activity because most students know about the game Angry Birds and it's a great way to show them how math applies to a popular game.
